Chapter Four

Six weeks had gone by, and Quinn sat at his kitchen table finally admitting defeat. He couldn’t work out where he had gone wrong. Six full weeks of late night phone calls and texts back and forth with Luc, and now suddenly he was getting the silent treatment. For five days now each text was ignored, each phone call went unanswered. At first he had been hurt. After five days, he was pissed. He had tried so desperately to forget Luc. Filling his days with work, nothing could distract him at night when he was all alone. Somehow, in a handle full of loaded glances, one amazing night and a few weeks of chatting back and forth, Luc had managed to worm his way under Quinn’s skin. The saddest part was Quinn didn’t even know Luc’s last name. He hadn’t thought to ask, beer and lust clouding his thoughts. And then it had slipped his mind. He became more obsessed with learning everything else there was about Luc that he hadn’t even thought to grab a last name. And Luc had never offered it. How stupid was he?

“Oh yeah,” Quinn scoffed. “Like what?”

“Like this,” Ryder said, flourishing a stack of papers. “These arrived a few days ago from our lawyer. Seems your friend must not have handed in the contract you signed, and there is still a blank section not filled out properly.”

Quinn frowned, wondering why Luc had never handed the signed ones over to Walker.

“He said to fill them out and send them back, but…”

He glanced up at his brother, and knew exactly what the other man was thinking. “You think I should take them to Walker's office personally? See if I can catch a glimpse of Luc...and what?”

Ryder shrugged. “Stuffed if I know, but have you ever thought that Luc misunderstood what you wanted?”

“What?”

“You heard me. I know you think you are all great communicator and shit, but you're not. Maybe Luc thought you only wanted a onetime thing, and now you only want to be friends. Did you actually tell him that you felt a connection? Did you even discuss plans for the future, like, romantically? Or did you just tell him you’d like to get to know him? Cause seriously, that could mean anything, and if you haven’t even asked him out for dinner...”

Quinn’s mouth opened and shut. He had asked Luc about his
